Youth Safety Statement
NextWave Youth is committed to creating safe, respectful and inclusive spaces for young people in digital, creative and community-based environments.
1. Our commitment
NextWave Youth aims to support young people through digital creativity, AI literacy, media education, cultural participation and intercultural engagement.
We believe that youth-centered activities must be built on safety, respect, inclusion, responsibility and trust.
2. Safe and respectful participation
We aim to promote a positive environment where all participants are treated with dignity. Discrimination, harassment, bullying, hate speech, intimidation or abusive behavior are not tolerated.
This applies to both offline and online spaces connected to NextWave Youth activities, communication channels or future project formats.
3. Protection of minors
Activities involving minors require particular care. Where future workshops, media projects, community activities or events involve participants under the age of 18, appropriate safeguards should be considered.
These may include parental or guardian consent, age-appropriate content, clear communication rules, supervised participation and responsible handling of media materials.
4. Digital safety
Because NextWave Youth works with digital creativity, media and AI-related topics, digital safety is an essential part of our approach.
We encourage awareness around:
- cyberbullying
- online privacy
- safe use of social media
- digital identity
- misinformation and manipulation
- responsible sharing of photos, videos and personal information
5. Media production and consent
Creative media production can involve photos, videos, voice recordings, interviews or digital content featuring young people.
We aim to ensure that media materials involving young participants are created and used respectfully, transparently and with appropriate consent.
Special care should be taken when publishing or sharing content involving minors.
6. Inclusion and non-discrimination
NextWave Youth supports inclusive participation across cultures, backgrounds, languages, abilities and personal experiences.
The initiative aims to create a positive environment for Turkish Cypriot youth, internationally mobile young people, European families, students and young creators.
7. Responsible AI and technology use
AI and digital tools should be used to support learning, creativity and empowerment, not to manipulate, harm, exclude or mislead young people.
Participants should be encouraged to think critically about AI-generated content, online information and digital platforms.
8. Reporting concerns
If you have a concern related to youth safety, inappropriate behavior, misuse of media content or digital safety in connection with NextWave Youth, please contact us.

9. Development status
NextWave Youth is currently in its early development and partnership exploration phase. This Youth Safety Statement outlines our intended standards and principles for future activities.
Specific safeguarding procedures may be further developed together with partner organizations, youth workers, educators and local stakeholders.
